Visit to an eco-farm.

Children, parents and grandparents packed into 2 buses to visit Green Circle, an eco farm in Kranji. The farm belongs to friends of Dr Khoo who are eager to introduce organic food to Singaporeans. We learnt how compost was made, checked out the vegetables, and tasted some fresh veggies on the way. We were amused by how the chicken help the farmers by eating up the weeds and spreading 'chicken fertilizers' at the same time, preparing the ground for new seeds to be planted.

We also met some of the local inhabitants - geese, ducks, guinea fowls, rabbits - which delighted the children!

At the end of the visit, everyone enjoyed farm-cooked vegetable pasta and a cooling home-brew. Children went home with a small container of plant to cultivate while the adults bought home brinjals, bananas, papayas, beans, chye sim, etc., to cook for dinner that night.
